The Oji area had a beautiful ravine naturally formed by the Shakujii River cutting through the plateau, creating the area’s many famous waterfalls. One such waterfall was Fudo Falls, so named for a stone statue of Buddhist deity Fudo Myo-o enshrined there. Standing under the waterfall was reportedly effective against all ailments, making it as popular as many hot spring spas. It was also a good way to cool off in the summer.
