The mountains of the Boso Peninsula are visible along the horizon in this print. The tidal flat shown is near the present-day location of the Arakawa River’s mouth. Hachiman Shrine in the lower right was relocated inland to Fukagawa due to the harshness of the surrounding environment, leading to the founding of Tomioka Hachiman Shrine. The grounds of the shrine were left untouched, becoming known as Moto-Hachiman, meaning “the former Hachiman Shrine.”
